Sewer Line Cleaning – What You Need to Know

Harris County MUD 264 is beginning the process of cleaning all sewer lines in Westcreek Village. While this activity will not impact service, this communication contains important information that you need to know.  This activity will be done in phases and anticipated to be completed in October.

This work does not require residents to be home and at no time will field crews have to enter your home or business.

A door tag will be placed on each resident’s front door approximately 3 to 7 days before the sewer lines in your area will be cleaned.

Field crews may require access to your property if a sewer manhole or similar structure is located in an easement on or adjacent to your property.   Your cooperation in providing access is critical to the sanitary sewer cleaning.  If you have a manhole in your backyard, we request that you:

  1. Remove structures such as flower pots, flower beds, sheds, decks, bird baths, debris, etc. from on top of any sanitary sewer manhole on your property.
  2. Restrain or relocate pets.
  3. Unlock gates during this period.

The following steps are suggested while the cleaning operation is underway in your area to help prevent the possibility of sewer smells from entering your house or the possibility of a sewer back-up:

  1. Unscrew the sanitary sewer service lateral clean out cap. (This is located in your yard between the house and the sewer main, and it is usually a 4” threaded PVC plastic cap.)
  2. Place towels in sinks and bathtubs covering the drains.
  3. Close toilet lids.
  4. Minimize water usage.

This work is being performed by Inframark, the District’s operator, between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm on weekdays (Monday through Friday, not including holidays.) ALL Inframark employees will be wearing company uniforms.
